About
Established in 2017, New Dublin Ship Fittings was built from the ground up by owner Lucas Gilbert. Lucas began his career with a formal education in machining and mechanical engineering.
In the early 2000’s, a passion for the traditional shipbuilding industry famous to the region where he grew up in Lunenburg County Nova Scotia, pulled him in a new direction and into wooden boat building. While working for a local wooden boat shop, he identified the need for quality marine hardware early on and began making fittings in his free time.
Eventually he and the boat shops owner, decided to collaborate and build their own foundry business to fill the need for domestically made, custom cast bronze hardware for an International One design the company was building.
After this and another stint building commercial boats for 4 years, Lucas started New Dublin Ship Fittings to finally pursue his lifelong dream of opening his own machine shop and producing custom yacht hardware. With his thorough attention to detail and an eye for good design, Lucas refuses to accept anything less than perfection in his work.
